LIMA, OH - UNOH men's soccer continued their dominant start to conference play Saturday with one of their most comprehensive performances of the season. Michel Tenchou netted three times in the first half and the Racers added one more in the second while keeping Aquinas off balance on both ends to finish off an unbeaten September.
UNOH was in control from the start and only need about 15 minutes to get their noses in front. A Saint turnover near midfield set up a counter opportunity facilitated by Raul Oliu who fed Michel Tentchou as he split two defenders at the top of the box. Tentchou drove hard left and then stopped on a dime clearing the defender before beating the keeper one-on-one.
Aimar Lezana did most of the work himself two create goal number two in the 29th minute. After taking the ball on the left wing, Lezana's initial attempt to play the ball across was cut off by a defender. He reacted first and jumped on the deflected ball at full speed cutting into the box around his mark. Two defenders stepped over to help but a quick fake left cleared them both out of the way and opened a path to link with Tentchou in the middle of the box. Tentchou took one touch before lifting the ball into the top corner for a 2-0 lead.
Just minutes later the Racers added a third with an end-to-end counter attack set up by Reece Benjamin. Benjamin intercepted a pass from the back row booting it into space on the opposite side of the field. Tentchou used pace to get to the loose ball first as the last defender stumbled and went to the ground. Now one-on-one with the keeper again, Tentchou left no doubt going opposite side and completing his first career hat trick.
The 3-0 score held into halftime but the Racers needed only 3 minutes to land the finishing blow in the second half. After some lengthy build up around the box, Corey Brouard received the ball on the right side in space before cutting across the face of a defender into the middle. Two touches was all he need to create enough space for himself roping the ball over the keeper and into the back of the net for his first goal of the season. The moment was made even more significant for Brouard who had dedicated his performance to his late grandfather who passed away recently.
The Racers racked up 21 total shots putting nine on frame while holding Aquinas to just three and two.
UNOH finishes September 6-0-1 and the 2025 Racers have put together the program's best ever start to conference play outscoring their opponents 20-2 over the first three games. The +18 goal differential during that span is also the program's best three-game stretch since 2017 (+21)
The Racers will look to continue those trends into October with two road games travelling to Defiance on Wedensday and Cornerstone next Saturday.
