UNOH Sneaks Past MVNU 1-0

LIMA, OH - In a game that felt much more one-sided than the scoreboard showed, UNOH women's soccer edged their way past Mount Vernon Nazarene 1-0 thanks to a late first half goal.

The Racers took seven shots without giving up any real chances on the opposite end before finally getting their noses in front just before halftime. Celia Catalan Keck got taken down hard while facilitating an attack but the official played advantage and UNOH used it. Jenny Grossen passed the ball ahead to Rhiannon O'Looney at the top of the box and she played first time to Mathilda Berg Karlsson all alone on the left side. One-on-one with the keeper, Karlsson kept it low and went under the charging goalie putting the Racers up 1-0.

The second half looked similar to the first with UNOH controlling on both ends. The Cougars were unable to produce a shot while the Racers racked up eleven over the 45 minutes. Five of those eleven hit their target but the Mt. Vernon keeper matched each time holding the game to just the single goal.

UNOH put nine of 19 total shots on goal during the match giving up two efforts in the first half that both missed the mark.

Sophia Eisner (2-1-0) earned the win but wasn't needed earning her second clean sheet of the season.

UNOH will stay home and have a chance to avenge the final loss of 2024 when No. 18 Campbellsville visits Racer Stadium on Saturday, September 13.
