Racer Offense Sputters as No. 24 Indiana Tech Runs Away

FORT WAYNE, IN - UNOH women's basketball started strong but couldn't keep pace with the hot shooting Warriors of Indiana Tech losing their third straight for the first time this season, 77-45.

The Racers led for most of the first quarter going up 12-6 with just two minutes left in the frame, but a quick spurt for the Warriors gave them the final seven points and a 13-12 lead after one. The second quarter stayed tight with the two exchanging the lead four times and the game sat tied 24-24 with three minutes before halftime. Just like the first, the second ended with an Indiana Tech run that proved to be the final blow.

The Racer offense dried up in the third as the eight-point deficit ballooned to 19 by the end of the quarter getting up to as many as 34 in the final frame. The Warriors kept banging home three-pointers to help themselves pull away making twelve on the night and shooting 48% as a team from the field.

It was a tough offensive night all around for the Racers with Alysia Lawson as the only player to finish in double-figures. Lawson ended with ten, a season low, followed by nine for Olivia Thompson, eight for Brooke Asher and six for both Lori Huffman and Saniiaya Gray. Kayla Larimore and Morgyn Rose rounded out the scoring with three each off the bench.

UNOH will try to get back in the win column on the road with trips to Lawrence Tech on Saturday, January 24 and Siena Heights January 28 before returning home for back-to-back games.
