ROCHESTER HILLS, MI - UNOH had a hard time slowing down a hot Rochester Christian offense Saturday afternoon as the Warriors steadily pulled away to take down the Racers 105-61.
UNOH led for the first six minutes before the Warriors took their first lead of the night, a lead they would never surrender, with 4:02 left in the first quarter. Rochester Christian managed to net the final nine points of the frame to take a 22-12 lead into the second. The Racers held the Warriors within reach and a nine-point difference with four minutes remaining in the half. For a second time, Rochester Christian ended the quarter with a big run, this time 13-4, that blew the game open 50-32 at the break. Their hot shooting night only got better as the game progressed shooting 56% in the third and a blistering 59% in the fourth pulling away for the big win.
Despite the loss, the night still proved historic for UNOH as senior Alysia Lawson became the all-time leading scorer in UNOH basketball history. Lawson led the team with 16 points giving her 1,924 for her career and topping the 13-year old record in 25 fewer games (Amanda Francis - 1,918). Jordan Mueller tallied a season high nine points followed by Olivia Thompson, Brooke Asher and Lori Huffman who all scored eight points each.
UNOH will play one more time before Thanksgiving heading to Madonna for a Tuesday night contest November 25.
