Racers Improve to 4-0 with 78-59 Win

LIMA, OH - UNOH women's basketball stayed unbeaten Tuesday night picking up their fourth non-conference victory to open the year, 78-59, over Bryant & Stratton-Ohio.

The first quarter stayed close and produced four ties and two lead changes before the Racers went up 10-9 at the 4:25 mark and held the lead through the rest of the period up 23-18 after one. The Bobcats kept hanging around and worked their way back in front, 32-31, with three minutes left in the half, but UNOH finished with a 10-2 run to hold a seven-point advantage at the break.

That final spurt did enough to put the Racers on top for good as they slowly pushed the lead up to as many as 15 points in the third before settling at 60-48 heading into the final stanza. The offense began to dry up for Bryant & Stratton in the fourth as the UNOH defense held them to just four total shots made in the frame while the Racers exanded their lead to finish off a 19-point victory.

It was another stellar performance by the Racers' freshman forward Lori Huffman who recorded her second double-double in her first four games. Huffman hauled in 22 total rebounds in the game, the program's second most ever, breaking her own freshman record set on Saturday (19). She also added 14 points while shooting 6-8 from the free throw line.

Alysia Lawson led all scorers with 26 points knocking down 11 of her 21 attempts (52%) from the field earning three steals and two assists. Olivia Thompson tallied 13 points with seven rebounds and four assists while Brooke Asher chipped in ten points with nine assists, three rebounds and three steals.

The Racers held Bryant & Stratton to just 29% shooting on the night and forced 19 turnovers while out rebounding the Bobcats 53-44.

UNOH will be home again this Saturday, November 8 hosting Brescia at 6:00 PM.
