Repeat Sweep: Women's Basketball Wins Both Weekly WHAC Honors Again

For the second time in two weeks, UNOH women's basketball has swept the weekly WHAC honors with Alysia Lawson earning her second offensive award and Lori Huffman joining her on the defensive side for the first time. The two Racers helped their team to two more victories last week including the program's first top 25 win since 2020 defeating No. 23 Shawnee State 68-61 on Saturday.


Offensive Player of the Week - Alysia Lawson

Lawson has been on a tear to start the new season averaging 35.7 points per game over the first three putting her first in the country among players with more than one appearance. She scored 38 in a 95-72 win over UC-Clermont last Wednesday and followed with 23 more against No. 23 Shawnee State on Saturday. Lawson shot 45% from the field on the week going 13-16 (81%) from the charity stripe. She played all 80 minutes over the two games last week adding five steals, three assists and three rebounds to her tally.


Defensive Player of the Week - Lori Huffman

Huffman becomes the second Racer Freshman to win the defensive award this season after a dominating start to her rookie campaign. She pulled down ten rebounds against UC-Clermont before grabbing a whopping 19 against No. 23 Shawnee State, the program's most ever by a freshman. Huffman also earned two blocks against the Bears and is averaging 14.3 rebounds per game after earning double-digit boards in each of her three outings.


Just two weeks into head coach Matt Vavro's fourth season at the helm, UNOH has now garned 18 weekly conference awards as a team during the Vavro Era after earning a total of just nine over the program's first 15 years.
