Cottey (MO)
#10 Southeastern
MELBOURNE, FL - UNOH softball split the final two games of their annual trip to Florida avenging a 3-2 defeat to Cottey on Monday with a 2-1 victory on Tuesday before taking a tough 14-1 loss to No. 10 Southeastern.
The first game of the last day was a chance for the Racers to get even with Cottey for stealing a game the day before with a walk off error. Both runs for UNOH came in one inning thanks to two singles and a two-out double. After just one hit through the first three frames, Hailee Edgell and Morgan Piotrovsky got things rolling with a pair of singles through opposite sides of the defense to open the Racer fourth. The next two batters were put down but Cecilia Campbell came up big with two outs ripping a double to the center field fence that scored both Edgell and Piotrovsky.
Karsyn McGlothen (4-2) carried a no-hitter through six innings but the Comets broke it up in their final at bat turning a single hit into a single run with a pair of ground outs. McGlothen allowed just two other base runners over her seven innings with one reaching on an error and one on a walk.
The Racers played tough against the 24-2 Southeastern Fire in game two but couldn't overcome a six-pack of errors that cost eleven unearned runs. Paige Becker brought in the only run for UNOH after Hailee Edgell led off the second with a triple. The Racers threatened in the third and again in the fifth but were denied any more runs by dominant Fire defense.
Chloe Scott (4-1) took her first loss of the season allowing two walks and three runs, one earned, on three hits over two innings at the helm. Lanie Wooten saw four of five runs score unearned over her three innings of relief while walking three and striking out one. Allison Feuerbacher met a similar fate in the final frame with five of six runners crossing the plate unearned.
UNOH softball ends their trip to the 2026 Space Coast Spring games with a record of 7-5 and now return home to begin conference play this weekend. The Racers will play the first four on the road with a trip to Lawrence Tech on Saturday, March 21, followed by Rochester Christian, to be played at Madonna, on Sunday.
