COLUMBIA, KY - Day two at Lindsey Wilson started well for UNOH softball picking up a 4-2 win in game one, but the Blue Raiders came back strong in the final contest of the series shutting down the Racers, 6-0.
All four UNOH runs came off two hits in the top of the second inning after a lead off walk and an error put runners on second and third. Lanie Wooten brought in the first with a single to left followed by Cecilia Campbell who ripped her first collegiate home run to clear the bases. Lindsey Wilson was held at bay until the sixth when they scored one off an error, but after a couple singles added a second in the seventh, UNOH closed the door to cap off the win.
Wooten (3-3) pulled her record even on the season after earning the win in her fourth complete game. She allowed two runs on eight hits, one earned, striking out two and walking one.
Most of the runs in game two came all at once again, but this time they went the way of the Blue Raiders in the home second. Five runners crossed the plate to open a 5-0 lead with the sixth and final run of the series coming in the following inning.
The Racers had chances to get back in the game that included loading the pond in both the fourth and fifth innings but ended up stranding nine runners total runners in the loss.
Karsyn McGlothen (1-2) made it through just two innings before being chased allowing five runs, four earned, on five hits with two walks. Chloe Scott made her collegiate debut giving up one run on five hits with one strike out over three innings of middle relief. Allison Feuerbacher tossed the final frame striking out two and walking one.
UNOH will return to Lima for their first home doubleheader of the season on Saturday, February 28 when the host Bluefield in a first ever matchup between the two programs.
