LIMA, OH - It was a tense match between two top-of-the-table teams at Racer Stadium Wednesday afternoon as No. 23 UNOH and Lourdes tussled to keep conference championship hopes alive. One of the nation's top scoring offenses was held off the board for 76 minutes but one goal was all the Racers needed to stay unbeaten in the WHAC downing Lourdes 1-0.
Most of the first half was played in the middle of the field as they two teams neutralized each other on both ends. The Gray Wolves held a 4-1 advantage in shots at the break but all went off target keeping the game scoreless.
Lourdes produced some chances to get in front early in the second half but continued to miss the mark putting just one of seven shots on goal. The game winner came in the 77th minute with a corner kick by Raul Oliu that found the head of Leonard K.Assouan who make perfect contact placing the ball in the top corner.
Ross Synnott (6-0-0) made one save on the only shot that threatened him picking up his fifth straight win and his fifth clean sheet of the year, the most in a season since 2021.
UNOH, winners of ten in-a-row, will stay home to take on Siena Heights on Saturday, October 11 before finishing with three of their final four games on the road.
