Four-Goal Hashimoto Powers Big Racer Win

DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MI - In a wild game that produced eleven goals, UNOH men's soccer came out comfortable winners taking down UM-Dearborn 9-2 to open conference play.

Eguzki Hashimoto scored the first two goals of the game in the 9th and 12th minutes. Josh Pearson added a third that would eventually become the game winner in the 14th minute before the Wolverines finally broke through in the 29th minute. The Racers struck one more time before the break as Aimar Lezana gave his team a 4-1 lead at halftime.

Less than five minutes into the second half, Hashimoto bagged his first career hat trick but an own goal gave the score right back and made it a 5-2 game through 58 minutes. UNOH kept up the offensive pressure and continued to produce goals as Ryan Hennessy netted in the 61st minute followed by a record setting fourth of the day for Hashimoto in the 70th. Niko Suarez bagged the first of his career in the 85th before Natxo Sanchez capped off the big afternoon in the 87th.

The Racers took a season high 30 shots while giving up just five putting 21 on target, the program's third most ever in a game.

Freshman Jonah Day (1-0-0) earned the win in his first career appearance making two saves over 90 minutes.

UNOH returns home to back-to-back matches next week taking on Cleary Wednesday, September 24 followed by Aquinas next Saturday.
