Racers Finish Runners-Up in Rain-Shortened LTU Kickoff

BOYNE FALLS, MI - In their second tournament of the fall, UNOH men's golf finished just four strokes off the lead to place second at the LTU Collegiate Kickoff. The Racers shot rounds of 297 and 302 before rain cancelled round three giving UNOH tournament score of 599 (+23).

The Racers led the ten-team field by one stroke after day one on Monday scoring 297 (+9) but saw eventual winner Taylor jump them on day two after a besting the Racers' 302 (+14) by five strokes.

Jaiden Pass highlighted the tournament for UNOH winning his first ever individual medal off tiebreakers. Pass carded rounds of 74 and 73 to sit tied for the lead after two days. With the cancellation of day three, the event winner was decided by lowest final round giving Pass the top spot thanks to his 1-over 73 that was one stroke better than second place. His 3-over 147 is the lowest 36-hole score of his career earning him his second top five in two events this fall.

Guillermo Garron also picked up his second top five in as many events earning a tie for fourth place with a 5-over 149 after rounds of 73 and 76. Jose Luis Vargas finished one stroke back in a tie for eighth carding twin 75's for a 6-over 150.

Oscar Lind and Oliver Rogers rounded out the team scoring for the event with scores of 156 and 158, respectively. One Racer, Alfie Baldwin, played as an individual shooting 81 and 78 for a total of 159 over the two days.

UNOH will be off for two weeks before they take to the links again at the WHAC Fall Preview. The lone conference event of the fall will take place September 22-23 at Stoatin Brae GOlf Club in Augusta, Mich.
