Racers Suffer Third Straight Heartbreaker 98-97

LIMA, OH - With a trip to the WHAC Tournament on the line, UNOH men's basketball fell to Lourdes in the final seconds 98-97 eliminating the Racers from post season contention.

Eight points was the maximum advantage all night as the two teams went toe-to-toe and traded blows for 40 minutes producing 18 ties and 26 lead changes. UNOH rode their best shooting night of the season hitting 57% of their total shots and 52% from long range. 

With less than four minutes remaining, the lead was seven in favor of the Racers, 92-85, but Lourdes outscored them 8-1 over the next two minutes to tie the game with 1:55 left. Down by one, the Gray Wolves got to the line with one the WHAC's top scorers shooting two. Both attempts hit the mark and Lourdes went up one with eight seconds to go. The final chance for UNOH came up short from deep handing them their third straight loss by an average of less than four points.

It was an incredibly efficient offensive night for both teams combining to shoot 51% from the field. The Racers were led by Antonio King's ninth double-double of the year scoring 30 and hauling in a game high twelve rebounds. It was King's most efficient night of his career hitting 11-15 (73%) from the field and all three three-point tries. Alex Benson matched his career best with 26 points while Caleb Chapman ended the night with 19 for his fifth consecutive double-digit performance.

UNOH has lost their last two games by a combined three points but will try to end the season on a positive note when they travel to UM-Dearborn on Saturday, February 21 for their final game of the year.
