King's 34-Point Night Fuels UNOH Upset of RCU

LIMA, OH - After suffering heartbreak in double overtime Wednesday, UNOH bounced right back to earn their biggest win of the season on Saturday upsetting Rochester Christian 84-82. Coupled with last season, the Racers have won back-to-back home tilts against the Warriors for the first time in program history.

Despite a highly competitive contest for the full 40 minutes, the Racers trailed almost the entire time but neither team could get the lead over nine points all night. The biggest advantage in the first half was eight, but it was short-lived as the momentum swung back and forth and the teams stayed tight producing eight ties. UNOH led for just 14 seconds of the first 20 minutes, but they found the final spurt of the half ending on an 8-0 run that put them on top at the break, 44-42.

Rochester Christian opened the second half on a 16-5 run of their own and took the largest lead of the night, 58-49 with 14:10 on the clock. They continued hold at least a two possession advantage down the stretch and with less than two minutes remaining, UNOH trailed by six, 82-76. After a bucket and a defensive stop, the Racers were in position to slash the lead to a single possession with less than a minute to play. Antonio King drove and finished strong through contact earning the basket and a foul where he finished off the three-point play. Now trailing by one, UNOH still needed one more defensive stop to have a chance to win the game.

The Warriors tried to eat up as much of the clock as they could, but it ended up back firing as Jyheim Spencer blocked the first jump shot and the follow up attempt barely beat the shot clock and came up short as King grabbed the rebound with 18 ticks remaining. The game's leading scorer put his team on his back firing a triple right in front of his home bench that hit nothing but net and put the Racers up 84-82 with four seconds left. Out of a time out, Rochester Christian had to go the length of the floor to tie the game and the final chance couldn't find paydirt giving UNOH a big victory at home despite leading for just 69 seconds all night.

Antonio King recorded a game and career high 34 points giving him consecutive 30-point outings for the first time in his career. He finished 13-29 from the field while grabbing seven rebounds. Jyheim Spencer followed up his first career double-double on Wednesday with his second on Saturday scoring a career high 19 points on 8-11 shooting while pulling down a game high 15 boards. Alex Benson and Chance Groce came off the bench to chip in 15 and ten, respectively.

UNOH now begins a three-game road stretch beginning with No. 13 Indiana Tech on Wednesday, January 21 followed by trips to Lawrence Tech and Siena Heights.
