LIMA, OH - UNOH men's basketball erased an 11-point deficit late in the second half against UM-Dearborn to snatch a 66-64 win Saturday afternoon. It is the Racers' third straight victory in the first three games of the new year.
UNOH jumped out quick and led by double-digits for most of the first eleven minutes of the game. The Wolverines started to find their groove offensively while the Racer offense floundered finishing the half by outscoring UNOH 17-6 and pulling within a bucket, 33-31, at the break.
The game's first lead change came less than two minutes into the second half as the game pulled tight. The two traded leads five more times before UM-Dearborn rattled off an 11-1 run that put some distance between the teams with 7:08 left to play. The Wolverines looked to be in the drivers seat down the stretch, but with less than four minutes remaining, the Racers came alive.
Down 62-51, UNOH completely shut down the Wolverine offense and went to work on the opposite end finishing the night with a 15-2 stretch where they shot 63% from the field and 5-6 from the stripe to complete the comeback victory.
Antonio King produced his third consecutive 20-point outing scoring a season high 29 to lead all scorers while grabbing eleven rebounds. King shot 11-21 (52%) from the field and 7-10 from the free throw line to earn his third double-double of the season. Jyheim Spencer racked up 18 total rebounds on the night tying for the program's second most ever in a single game (Hunter Bode - 21) while Alex Benson chipped in 15 points off the bench, his third straight double-digit performance.
Riding a three-game winning streak for the first time this season, UNOH will try to continue their hot start to 2026 as they enter the toughest stretch of the year. The Racers will take on three of the WHAC's top four teams over a span of just seven days beginning with a road trip to (RV) Lourdes (13-3, 7-3) on Wednesday, January 14. They then come home for a showdown against Rochester Christian (11-5, 6-4) before hitting the road again to face first-place No. 9 Indiana Tech (13-2, 9-1).
