Volleyball's Treece Receives Red Cross Collegiate Leadership Scholarship
Northwestern Ohio's Riley Treece was awarded the Red Cross Collegiate Leadership Scholarship joining eleven other NAIA and NJCAA student-athletes in the Class of 2026.
The Red Cross Collegiate Leadership Program begins in June with two weeks of training, mentoring and networking in Washington D.C. that helps develop leadership skills, discover purpose, and preparation for the future. Participating students return to their respective campuses with the life-saving mission of organizing Red Cross blood drives for fellow classmates and the community and carry the responsibility of identifying a potential successor on campus to continue the program.
Sophomore Riley Treece, a native of Valparaiso, Indiana and a member of the UNOH volleyball program, will receive a $3,000 scholarship with roundtrip transportation to the nation's capital, room, board and stipend included. "I am very grateful to be chosen for this program," Treece stated. "This is a great opportunity to learn new leadership skills, network and to help me prepare for the future. The Red Cross is a great organization, and I am excited to be a part of it."
Coach Bonham's Comments: What a great honor for all of us! Being a former FF/EMT for 20 years, I am so proud that she stepped up to help us with out blood drive in an effort to qualify for this. Now, she will represent all of us.
The Washington D.C. training program takes place June 1 through June 12.
