Women's Tennis Advances with 4-1 Win Over Dillard

MOBILE, AL - UNOH women's tennis advanced out of the First Round of the NAIA National Championship Tuesday with a strong 4-1 win over No.14 Dillard.

The Racers took the first point of the match winning doubles one and two and followed up with wins in first, fifth and sixth line doubles.

Munisa Ashurbekova and Ekaterina Orlova were responsible for a 6-2 first doubles victory followed by Agathe Vaillant and Telma Herreros 6-3 in second doubles. Melissa Jangarasheva and Margarita Tatur went unfinished in the third line but led 5-2 when the point was clinched.

Ashurbekova and Herreros won the first two singles points at one and five. Ashurbekova won through 7-5, 6-3 while Herreros had a tougher fight going 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 for the win. The match point was clinched by Tatur in the six spot surviving momentum swings for a 6-1, 1-6, 6-1 victory.

Jangarasheva lost the only point of the match 3-6, 3-6 in the fourth line singles with Orlova and Vaillant going unfinished at second and third.

The win pushes UNOH into the second round and sets up a showdown with the top team in the country, No.1 Keiser, at 10:00 AM EST on Wednesday.
