WASHINGTON, MI - UNOH jumped out early against Rochester Christian Saturday night, but the Warriors hung around and kept the game close finishing 2-1 in the Racers' advantage.
All three of the games goals came in the first half with the first coming in the 12th minute with a rocket off the left foot of Mathilda Berg Karlsson, her ninth of the season. Less than 15 minutes later, the Racers struck again with Karlsson feeding Rhiannon O'Looney in the middle of the box who finished for her fourth of the year.
Despite being down two goals, the Warriors shifted momentum and managed to net one in the 32 minute to cut the lead in half. The game became a midfield battle as neither team could get back on the front foot before halftime. Those trends continued into the second half as offensive opportunities became commodities. The teams combined for just four total shots and with each putting one on target over the final 45 minutes of a physical game that remained 2-1 through the final horn.
UNOH enters the final week of the regular season in control of their own destiny for at least a piece of the WHAC title. Both matches will be played at home with Indiana Tech visiting Lima on Wednesday, October 22 followed by the regular season finale against Lawrence Tech on Senior Day next Saturday.
