Women's Soccer Falls 2-1 to No. 11 Aquinas

LIMA, OH - UNOH women's soccer came up short in their Top 25 showdown Saturday afternoon as No. 11 Aquinas netted two late goals to steal the win 2-1.

The Racers dominated possession in the first half holding the Saints at bay, but couldn't take advantage of their position in the match including a failed penalty kick in the 31st minute. UNOH held a 6-0 advantage on shots over the first 45 but the game stay scoreless into halftime.

After a lot of pressure to start the second period, the Racers got a second chance at a penalty kick in 56th minute. The keeper guessed right but the shot from Svenja Jorg was perfectly placed in the bottom corner to put UNOH up first, 1-0. Aquinas managed to score the equalizer against the run of play in the 72nd minute and momentum shifted their direction. As time ticked away, a mistake on the back end gave up a costly turnover just a few yards outside the 18-yard box. One-on-one with the keeper, the Saint attacked rolled the ball past a diving Sophia Eisner to put Aquinas on top 2-1. The Racers created a couple late opportunities but couldn't find the back of the net snapping a four-game winning streak.

Eisner (6-2-0) made three saves over the 90 minutes in front of goal to take her first loss since match two of the year.

UNOH will look to get back to their winning ways to open October when they host Defiance next Wednesday.
