Pekoll Leads UNOH Women Through First Round of National Championship

YPSILANTI, MI - The first round of the 2026 NAIA National Championship was halted Tuesday due to rain with most teams still waiting to tee off. UNOH was among those who missed their opening tee time before finally getting onto the links on Wednesday.

The Racers shot 328 as a team putting them 27th of 30 teams but saw freshman Luise Pekoll highlight the day with an exceptional round one. In her first national tournament, the Berlin, Germany native shot a career best 2-over 74 and currently sits in a five-way tie for second place in a field of 155 golfers.

Molly Douglas went to the club house with an 80 followed close by Kudzai Mandava who carded an 82. Kayla Watkins and Riley Daeger rounded out the team scoring shooting 92 and 100, respectively.

With the delay in round one, the championship has been shortened to 54-holes with the final cut coming following the round two on Thursday. Daeger leads off the second round with an 8:20 AM tee time followed by Watkins at 8:30, Pekoll at 8:40, Douglas at 8:50 and Mandava at 9:00.
