UNOH Claims WHAC Fall Preview Championship

AUGUSTA, MI - UNOH won the inaugural match play event 3-2 over Indiana Tech two years ago, but lost to the Warriors in the championship by the same score last season. This year, it was new blood for the Racers, blanking Cleary 5-0 and Lawrence Tech 3.5-1.5 to win the only conference event of the fall.

The Racers finished comfortably on top of the 18-hole stroke play round to earn the No. 1 seed heading into match play. Sharifah Binyahya led the field shooting a 73 (+1) with Ebba Nordin at third with a 75 (+3) and Rafaella Brigante and Primross Chikwaya both carding 80 (+8) in a tie for eighth. As the top seed, UNOH won all five matchups against No. 4 Cleary for a 5-0 win to advance to the championship match against No. 2 Lawrence Tech who defeated No. 3 Siena Heights 4-1.

Ebba Nordin, Sharifah Binyahya and Rafaella Brigante won their matchups 6&5, 4&2 and 2-up, respectively. Primross Chikwaya halved with Kayla Watkins taking the lone loss 2&1.

UNOH will play two more events before wrapping up the fall slate of the 2023-24 season. The Racers will play the Gray Wolf Invitational as JV event on October 9 at Sylvania Country Club before taking to the links as a varsity team for the TPC Deere Run Invitational October 16-17 at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois.
