Lucas Perez Earns Second POTW Award in Three Weeks

For the second time in three weeks, the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has voted Northwestern Ohio's Lucas Perez the Men's Tennis Player of the Week. It is the third career Player of the Week honor for Perez as he went 4-2 across doubles and singles last week.

The Racers played competition across all three divisions of the NCAA over the weekend with a 4-3 win over No. 1 in Division III Case Western Reserve to open the weekend Friday afternoon. Perez won both his matchups teaming up with Nils Messin in No. 1 Doubles to win 6-1 before fighting off his singles match 4-6, 7-6 [7-3].

Later that evening, UNOH fell 3-4 in a tight match to No. 17 in Division II Wayne State. Perez and Messin lost in their No. 1 Doubles matchup but Perez rebounded with an impressive 6-1, 6-3 victory in No. 3 singles.

The weekend concluded against Division I Toledo on Sunday where the Racers were defeated 2-5 by the Rockets. Perez and Messin teamed up one more time in the No. 1 Doubles position and managed to pick up a tough win 7-6 [7-5]. Perez finished off with a loss in No. 3 singles but went down fighting dropping set one 3-6, winning set two 6-1, but falling in the final set 4-6.
