Lucas Perez Wins First WHAC POTW Award

Northwestern Ohio's Lucas Perez has been named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Men's Tennis Player of the Week after leading his team to a fifth-place finish at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships over the weekend.

Perez lost his first doubles matchup of the tournament as No. 9 UNOH fell 4-0 to No. 2 Keiser in the quarterfinals, but helped his team mount a strong return with wins over No. 14 Lindsey Wilson and No. 8 William Woods in the consolation bracket to finish fifth in the country. He teamed up with Nils Messin in the number one doubles position against both the Blue Raiders and the Owls winning 6-3 and 7-5, respectively. Perez also made quick work of both his singles matchups in the number three position winning 6-1, 6-2 against Lindsey Wilson and 6-1, 6-0 against William Woods.

It is the second career player of the week award for Perez.
