Messin Wins First WHAC Player of the Week Award

The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced Monday that Northwestern Ohio's Nils Messin has been named the Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending March 10. The Racers have won six of eleven WHAC POTW awards this season with Messin becoming the fifth different player to earn the honor.

UNOH went 5-0 last week including wins over three teams receiving votes in the national poll and No. 16 Grace. Messin began the week winning doubles with teammate Mathieu Strauss 6-3 and singles 6-4, 6-2 against Bethel. On the same day, Messin was perfect in his singles matchup winning 6-0, 6-0 against (RV) Arizona Christian. Against (RV) Huntington, he again joined Strauss to win doubles 6-1. The Racers then turned their sites to conference opponent (RV) Indiana Tech with another dominate performance from Messin winning doubles 6-2 with Sergio Conde and singles 6-2, 6-1. He capped the week giving by giving up just one point to No. 16 Grace winning 6-0 in doubles and 6-1, 6-0 in singles.

It is Messin's first career Player of the Week award.
