Conde Wins Singles, Stanchev/Omarkhanov Win Doubles at ITA Midwest Regional

MARION, IN - UNOH men's tennis had strong showing at the 2023 ITA NAIA Midwest Regional Championship seeing Sergio Conde bring home the singles championship with Martin Stanchev and Malik Omarkhanov taking down Conde and Lucas Perez in the doubles championship.

Singles

Conde was the overall No. 1 seed entering the tournament and survived tough bouts in the round of 16 and the semifinals to take down the No. 2 overall seed in the championship. The Midwest Championship qualifies Conde for the ITA Cup played in Rome, Georgia beginning October 12.

Malik Omarkhanov sat at No. 12 and upset No. 5 in the round of 16 before seeing his run come to an end in the semifinals to teammate, and eventual champion, Sergio Conde.

Martin Stanchev reached the quarterfinals as the No. 3 seed but got upset by No. 11.

Lucas Perez made it four Racers in the round of 16 but couldn't get past the tournament's No. 2 player and eventual runner-up.

Doubles

Martin Stanchev and Malik Omarkhanov also qualified for the ITA Cup with a doubles championship in the Midwest Regional as the No. 2 seed taking down teammates Sergio Conde and Lucas Perez in the final.
