Men's Soccer Loses Five-Goal Heartbreaker to LTU

LIMA, OH - In a physical battle, UNOH men's soccer came out on the losing end of a five-goal match with Lawrence Tech winning the day 3-2.

A Racer turnover set up the first goal of the day in the 23rd minute with the UNOH keeper colliding with a Blue Devil attacker for a converted penalty kick. UNOH returned the favor in the 34th minute thanks to a heavy tackle in the box that resulted in a penalty kick. Leonard K.Assouan sent the keeper left and slotted down the middle to tie the match at 1-1.

Less than two minutes removed from halftime, UNOH took the lead thanks again to K.Assouan. He beat two defenders off the dribble on the right side of the box and drove towards the endline. On the run, K.Assouan fed the ball up to Calum Loomes who hit first time catching the keeper off guard. Another Racer turnover, this time in the defensive third, gave Lawrence Tech an advantage in the 57th minute and they did the job to tie the game at 2-2. Just over five minutes later, the Blue Devils found the game winner off a headed cross and stole the day, 3-2.

Jack Cook (2-3-2) went the full 90 in front of goal to take the loss making two saves.

With tournament seeding on the line, UNOH will travel to Lake Trust Stadium on Wednesday to wrap of the regular season against Cleary.
