Four Goals by Four Racers in Season Finale Win

LIMA, OH - UNOH fell behind early, giving up a goal on the very first shot just two minutes into the game, but the Racers rallied with four second-half goals to end the regular season with a 4-1 win over Rochester.

After the Warriors bagged a goal out of the gate, UNOH took control of the match and didn't give up another shot in the first half. Despite putting four shots on goal, the Racers couldn't light the scoreboard and continued to trail 1-0 at the break.

Before everyone had settled in for the second half, UNOH evened the score at 1-1. The build up was strong ending with Corey Brouard finding Moritz Guettel on the sideline. Guettel attacked the end line and sent the ball into the box on the ground. Brouard followed in and flicked it first time into the back of the net. The game stayed level for 15 minutes before the Warrior keeper made an error on a goal kick, stepping outside the box to contact the ball giving up an indirect free kick opportunity for UNOH. Tomas Echevarria put the ball in play with a roll to Diego Cerezo who roped the ball around a disorganized wall and past a diving keeper for his team leading seventh goal of the season.

The Racers continued to work patiently on the offensive end and took advantage of another Rochester mistake in the 82nd minute. A Warrior player stumbled over the ball and Diego Cerezo pounced on it with a quick pass ahead to Natxo Sanchez. Sanchez found Jovaunn Ramos in the middle with plenty of room to work. Ramos went right and beat a defender off the dribble before going low under another defender and the keeper from 19 yards out for a 3-1 lead. UNOH wasn't done, though, and added one more in the 85th minute. Tomas Echevarria dribbled into a crowd of defenders but managed to thread the ball to Bjarne Renner cutting into the box. Renner took on the goal first time and put the ball in the bottom corner for a final 4-1 lead.

Tomas Echevarria finished with two assists to give him eight this season, the program's most in a season since 2019 (Devin Morgan - 11). The two points also move him into fourth place all-time in career points, the highest career total since Pascal Debowiak (102) who played for the Racers from 2014-17.

With the win, UNOH finishes the regular season fifth in the final Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) standings. They will travel up I-75 to take on No. 4 Lourdes for the WHAC Tournament Quarterfinals next Saturday, November 4, at 7:00 PM. The winner will advance to play either No. 1 Aquinas or No. 8 Siena Heights the following Wednesday, November 8 in the semifinals
