Men's Golf Leads Field After Day One of WHAC Championship
YORKTOWN, IN - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Men's Golf Championship teed off on Monday, April 20, with the first two of three rounds at The Players Club at Woodland Trails.
The Racers led by eight strokes over Lourdes after round one shooting 292 (+4) as a team. They followed up the strong start with a 293 (+5) in round two as Lourdes slipped to fourth and saw Lawrence Tech replace them in second after the tournaments lowest round so far, 291 (+3).
Oliver Rogers currently holds the team lead in a tie for third place going even par on day one with rounds of 71 and 73. Jose Luis Vargas sits one stroke back in a tie for fifth after shooting 1-over with a 74 and a 71.
With a trip to the NAIA National Championship on the line, UNOH will head into the final round on Tuesday with an eight-stroke cushion and a chance to claim the program's second conference championship under head coach Eric West after back-to-back runner up finishes.
