Vargas Snags Third Golfer of the Week Honor

On Monday, the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced that Northwestern Ohio's Jose Luis Vargas had been voted the men's Golfer of the Week for the third time this season.

Vargas had his best outing of the spring at the Music City Classic last week shooting under par all three rounds en route to his fourth top ten finish of the season. The Santa Cruz, Bolivia native led his team to a fourth place result out of 21 teams that included nine top 25 NAIA programs and the No. 12 team in Division II of the NJCAA.

Since transfering to UNOH in 2024, Vargas has found a second home in The Volunteer State carding sub-par rounds six out of eight times and shooting over par just once. He carries a 10-under total through three tournaments in Tennessee resulting in two of his four career Golfer of the Week awards with three top 15, two top ten and one top five finish.
