Vargas Picks up His Second WHAC Golfer of the Week Honor

The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has named Northwestern Ohio's Jose Luis Vargas the Men's Golfer of the Week for the second time this fall after leading his team to an impressive third-place finish at the Music City Collegiate last week.

Vargas pieced together a powerful performance in difficult conditions to earn a tie for second-place in a field of 100 of the NAIA's top golfers. Weather played havoc on the tournament but Vargas powered through to card two sub-par rounds that included a 5-under 67 in round two, his best of the year, to finish 6-under par with a 138. The tournament field included six ranked opponents, highlighted by No. 1 Lindsey Wilson and No. 4 Dalton State, as well as three teams receiving votes.

It was the second top five and third top ten of the year for Vargas as he earned his second Golfer of the Week award this fall.
