WHAC Names UNOH's Vargas Golfer of the Week

The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced Monday that Northwestern Ohio's Jose Luis Vargas has been voted the Men's Golfer of the Week for his performance at the UNOH Fall Invitational last week.

Vargas shot under par in all three rounds of the tournament to card the second lowest 54-hole score in program history. He opened with a 2-under 69 followed by a 3-under 68 to conclude day one. Day two saw Vargas end the event with a 1-under 71 to hold off teammate Oliver Rogers by one stroke and finish with a tournament total of 208 (-8).

The individual medal is the first of Vargas' career giving him six top fives and eight top tens in twelve events played with UNOH. The weekly award also marks the second Golfer of the Week award of his career.
