Baseball Win Streak Snapped in Non-Conference Bout

KOKOMO, IN - UNOH baseball saw their eleven-game winning streak come to an end at the hands of IU-Kokomo in a single non-conference game Tuesday. During that stretch, the Racers outscored their opponents 137-36 and averaged 12.5 runs per game but offense did not come easily in a 4-1 loss to the Cougars.

UNOH got on the board first in the second but did so without registering a single hit. A lead off walk turned into a run after an error in left field scored Kole Huffman from second base. The pitcher's duel continued into the fourth before a pair of Racer errors turned into a pair of Cougar runs as the game slipped from their control. The best offense of the day came in the home seventh as IU-Kokomo followed back-to-back singles with a two-RBI triple that put them up 4-1. UNOH managed a single hit in each of their final two at bats but couldn't get the runs they needed to take their first loss since March 21.

Tyler Filinger led at the plate as the only Racer to log multiple hits. He finished 2-4 in the game with Eliomar Otero, Fabian Romero and Dylan Mroz recording the team's three other hits.

Noah Curi (1-1) took the decision with two runs allowed, one earned, on two hits over three and two-thirds innings. Despite his the loss, Curi was strong on the mound fanning a career high eight batters and walking three. Carter Hicks got the final out of the fourth before Blake O'Bryan took over in the fifth. O'Bryan went two and two-thirds in middle relief with two runs allowed on two hits with four strikeouts and a walk. Parker Kerr tossed the final inning and a third with one hit, one walk and one strikeout.

UNOH gets back into the conference this weekend hosting Cleary for Senior Day on Saturday, April 11, followed by a trip to Rochester Christian on Sunday.
