Healy and Grigalis Repeat as WHAC Players of the Week
The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference announced Monday that a pair of UNOH sophomores have made history as the first Racer duo to claim back-to-back Player and Pitcher of the Week honors.
Daniel Healy improved to 4-1 this season after a dazzling performance in a 1-0 complete game win over No. 19 Indiana Tech. The reigning WHAC Pitcher of the Year gave up hits on the first two batters he faced but took control after that allowing just one more hit and only four total base runners the rest of the game. Healy has now logged consecutive complete game shutouts for the first time in his career giving up just one walk and eight total base runners during those two games.
Zach Grigalis was named the WHAC Player of the Week again as he continued his offensive tear through the month of March. He logged three straight multi-hit games to end the weekend giving him nine such outings in the last twelve games. He hit .733 over four games improving his season average to .522, the best in the WHAC and third in the country. During his hot twelve-game stretch, Grigalis has five home runs and four doubles with a team best 16 RBI. His defense was also flawless again recording 33 putouts and two assists on 35 total chances improving his season fielding percentage to .986 with just two errors in 22 games played.
The two awards this week give UNOH eight of 14 total weekly honors this year and mark the program's most ever in a single season.
