Baseball Falls Twice to End Series with IU Southeast

WESTFIELD, IN - It was a tough day for UNOH baseball Sunday as they took two losses to IU Southeast after splitting the first two the day before. The Grenadiers started quick and took game one 12-1 before exploding late in the nightcap to finish the day with a 13-3 win.

Missed opportunities were the story of the day for the Racers stranding a total of 17 runners over the two games. Ten of those came in game one and the Grenadiers took advantage scoring five in the first, one in the second and two in the third. The lone UNOH run came in the top of the third inning with an RBI ground out but they gave up another in the fifth and three more in the sixth to finish off the game early in seven.

Brayden Lybarger (0-2) got the start but was chased out after just two-thirds of an inning after giving up five runs on three hits with just one earned while walking three and striking out one.

Game two started better for the Racers as they took a 2-1 lead in the third inning thanks to a two-RBI double from Fabian Romero. The advantage was short-lived, however, as IU Southeast plated five times in the home half of the frame to go back on top for good. Brennan Green drove in one for UNOH in the sixth, but again the Grenadiers answered right away exploding for seven runs in the bottom to finish off the four-game series with a 13-3 win.

Daniel Healy (0-1) went four innings off the start to take the loss seeing five of six runs allowed scoring unearned. Healy allowed just four hits while striking out three and walking three.

Offensively, Jake Watson and Eliomar Otero were the only two Racers to log multiple hits over the two games. Both of Watson's came in game one going 2-6 on the day while Otero recorded one hit in each game for a 2-7 day at the dish. Fabian Romero finished just 1-5 but earned the team's most RBI with two in game two.

UNOH will be back in action next weekend at the MidSouth Clash played at the USA Stadium Complex in Millington, Tennessee. The Racers will play Mission and Culver-Stockton on Saturday, February 21 followed by No. 5 Tennessee Wesleyan and Freed-Hardeman on Sunday.
