UNOH Swept by No. 18 Johnson in Season Opening Series
KNOXVILLE, OH - UNOH baseball hung around with No. 18 Johnson on Monday looking for their first win of the young season, but a pair of late game runs kept the Racers winless.
For the third time in three games, the Royals got on the board in their first offensive inning but for the first time it remained just a single run. The two teams combined for just three hits over the next three innings as the game entered the fifth still 1-0. A Nolan Hull single and an error helped UNOH finally pull even, but a solo Johnson run in each of the seventh and eighth innings gave them the win and a three-game sweep of the Racers.
Six different pitchers took the mound for UNOH led by last year's WHAC Pitcher of the Year Daniel Healy (0-1). Healy got the start and took the loss after five innings of work where he allowed one run on just three hits with five strikeouts and one walk. Aidan Nugent and Nate Tappenden were responsible for the other two runs combining for two hits, two strikeouts and two walks over an inning and a third. Blake O'Bryan finished the final frame with two hits and one walk but no runs allowed.
UNOH will head back to Tennessee next weekend for a neutral, four-game series against (RV) IU-Southeast that will be played at Hunter Wright Stadium, home of the Kingsport Axmen.
