Win Streak Snapped at 13 as Racers Lose Twinbill at Cleary

HOWELL, MI - The WHAC's hottest offense stalled over two games at Lake Trust Stadium. UNOH (16-12, 13-3) saw their 13-game winning streak come to an end with an 8-1 loss in game one. Cleary (20-14, 8-7) plated their only two runs of game two in their first at-bat, but it was enough to hold off the Racers 2-1.

Game 1: Cleary 8 UNOH 1 (7 Innings)

UNOH was held to a season low three hits with their lone run coming in the fifth thanks to a Darius Freeman triple and an Alex Velasco RBI single. Cleary's offense scored two in the first, one in the third and five in the fifth for the 8-1 win.

Michael Joyce (1-2) got the start and the loss giving up seven runs, five earned, off four hits striking out four and walking one over three and a third innings. Nick Johnson and Tony Manzano combined for the final two and two-thirds with just one run and two hits given up.

Game 2: Cleary 2 UNOH 1

The Cougars' two runs both came in the home first as the game became a pitcher's duel. The next seven innings saw the teams combine for just five hits as the game entered the ninth still 2-0. A walk, a stolen base and a single linked together to score the only run for UNOH. The Racers got two more runners on but couldn't find the tying run.

Sinjon Bobolia (0-3) went two and a third off the start to take the loss. Bobolia gave up two runs off two hits with three walks and two strikeouts. Wyatt Johnson did the most work for UNOH going four innings in relief giving up just one hit while striking out four and walking three. AJ Buchman, Jeremy Yurcak and Jack Olberding combined for the last one and two-thirds innings with zero hits five strikeouts and just one walk between them.

UNOH will have a brief respite from league play when they host a single 9-inning game against Saint Francis Wednesday, April 12, before heading back into WHAC play against Madonna on Saturday, April 15.
