The UNOH Racers 2009 season didn't end the way that they had hoped, but their play during their 27-14 season earned the UNOH Racers several postseason awards. The most notably was awarded to Sophomore Libero Kelly Oldiges as she was named the American Mideast Conference Libero of the Year. Kelly Oldiges was also named to the 1st team All-AMC. Joining her on the first team was Junior Roshelle Watercutter. Being named to the All-AMC 2nd team were Sophomore Meagan Enyart and Junior Katie Luebke. Receiving AMC Honorable Mention was Sophomore Debbie Brubaker. Kelly Oldiges has set the standard at the Libero position for the Racers. Oldiges finished ranked #5 in the nation in total digs with 810 and also finished #20 for digs per game with 5.9. She also set the record for most digs in a match with 43 this season in her match against Point Park in the AMC Tournament. Roshelle Watercutter earned her first team honors by leading the conference in kills per game with 3.84. With leading the conference, she also finished #26 in the nation for that stat. Watercutter finished #3 in the nation for total kills with 588. Meagan Enyart was a top vote earner for the 2nd team as she was twice voted as AMC Player of the Week for the first two weeks of the season. EnYart also finished #4 in the nation for total kills with 569. EnYart's hitting percentage was ranked #29 as she swung with a .350%. She also finished #30 for kills per set with 3.72. When she wasn't swining, she was blocking as she finished #48 in the nation for total blocks with 131. Katie Luebke's first season at UNOH was a success as she earned 2nd team honors. Luebke finished #24 in the nation for total kills with 479. Luebke also ranked #31 for kills per set with 3.71. Debbie Brubaker earned Honorable mention as she led the AMC in total assists for the season, which was also good enough for #2 in the nation. Brubaker finished #14 in the nation for assists per set with 10.65. Mount Vernon Nazarene outside hitter Jackie Albrecht has been named the American Mideast Conference Player of the Year in women's volleyball for the 2009 season. She earned the recognition in a vote by the AMC coaches. Albrecht, a 5-foot-10 junior from Lexington, Ohio, heads up the 12-member All-AMC First Team. She ranked second in the league with a 3.79 kills per set average in leading MVNU to a 32-8 regular season record, a runner-up finish in the standings at 10-2, and the #1 seed in the AMC Tournament. Kristy Kamer of Shawnee State was voted the AMC Coach of the Year by her peers. She led the Bears to 30-3 overall record and a perfect 12-0 slate in the league as they captured their first-ever conference title. Shawnee State's Haley Holcomb was tabbed the Setter of the Year. Walsh rookie Julianne O'Donnell picked up Freshman of the Year honors. |
