The UNOH Racers hosted a crucial AMC Tri-Match on Saturday morning and afternoon. The Racers made quick work of Daemen in the first match, 3-0. Then the Racers used that momentum to knock off #33 ranked Walsh in dominating fashion, 3-0. The Racers entered Saturday having to win 2 of the 3 matches remaining in AMC play, with the remaining opponents all being in the hunt for postseason play. The Racers won the two matches needed to qualify for postseason play, and finish AMC play with Cedarville on Tuesday evening. In their first match, the Racers got an overall team effort in the attacks as they won by set scores of 25-12, 25-15, 25-8. Junior Katie Luebke was the only Racer to reach double digit kills with 10. Sophomore Meagan Enyart had 9 kills while Junior Roshelle Watercutter had 8. Sophomore Debbie Brubaker had 29 assists on the match. Sophomore Jessica Prince led the team in digs with 15, while Sophomore Kelly Oldiges had 14 and Roshelle Watercutter had 12. In the second match of the day for the Racers, Roshelle Watercutter led the attack with 17 kills. Katie Luebke and Megan EnYart were right behind with 11 and 10. Debbie Brubaker had 39 assists in the match. Kelly Oldiges led the digging with an astounding 27 digs in 3 sets. Jessica Prince helped in the effort with 16 digs of her own. With the wins, the Racers move to 27-11 overall, a new record for most wins in a season, topping the 26 win mark the Racers set last season. They also move to 8-3 in the AMC, which is currently tied for 3rd place overall. Another crucial match for the Racers takes place against Cedarville on Tuesday night. If the Racers defeat Cedarville on Tuesday, and Walsh defeats Mt. Vernon Nazarene on Thursday night, the UNOH Racers, in only their second year of existence, would play host to the AMC Tournament. Shawnee State would be the regular season champ, and would automatically qualify for the NAIA National Tournament. The 2nd place team would host the AMC Tournament, with the winner advancing to the NAIA National Tournament as well. The match against Cedarville on Tuesday, November 3rd, is set for a 7:00 PM start. The AMC Tournament is set to start on Friday, November 13th, with semifinals and finals set for Saturday, November 14th. |
