The UNOH Racers hosted Roberts Wesleyan on Friday night inside Racer Gymnasium. It was the first of three AMC matches on the weekend for the Racers. The Racers won the first two sets easily, then went deep in set 3 and lost, but stormed back in set 4 to win the match 3-1. The Racers won the first two sets by scores of 25-19. In both sets, the Racers fell behind at 15-14, but then regrouped to win both sets. In set 3, the Racers held a 24-21 lead, but couldn't seal the deal and the Raiders went on to win the set 29-27 in extended play. In set 4, the Racers were close to going to a 5th set, but the Racers rallied and finished the Raiders off at 25-23. Leading the attack for the Racers was Junior Roshelle Watercutter with 20 kills and 28 digs on the match. Watercutter also had an ace and received the Raiders serves 27 times with no errors. Junior Katie Luebke had 16 kills and Sophomore Meagan Enyart had 12 to help in the attack. Sophomore Debbie Brubaker had 46 assists in the match. Sophomore's Kelly Oldiges and Jessica Prince each reached double figure digs behind Watercutter with 26 and 11. With the win, the Racers move to 18-9 overall, and 4-1 in the AMC. The Racers will look to build on their AMC run with a 1:00 pm match with Houghton inside the Racer Gymnasium. Then at 3:00 pm, the Racers will face first place Shawnee State in a crucial AMC showdown. |
