The UNOH Racers Volleyball team traveled to Canton, OH on Tuesday night to play in their second AMC match. Despite a record breaking performance by Sophomore Kelly Oldiges, the Racers fell to Malone 3-1. The Racers fell behind early as they lost the first set 25-20. They regrouped in the second set to win 25-23. They lost the final two sets to fall in the match, the third set finished 25-18, and the final set was a nail-biter as they fell 27-25. Kelly Oldiges defended the Malone attack with a new school record of 41 digs during the 4 set match. The record was previously set by Oldiges at 31 digs, but that was in a 5 set match. Leading the Racers attack was Junior Katie Luebke, she returned to action after an injury layoff to slam 21 kills. Junior Roshelle Watercutter had 15 kills on the night, and Sophomore Meagan Enyart had 13 kills on the night as well. Sophomore Debbie Brubaker had 46 assists on the match to help the Racers attack the Pioneers. Kelly Oldiges wasn't the only Racer digging, Roshelle Watercutter had 20 digs in the match. Sophomore Jessica Prince recorded 19 digs and Sophomore Chelsea Crow had 16 digs on the match as well. With the loss, the Racers move to 13-6 on the season, and 1-1 in the American Mideast Conference. The Racers will be back in action this weekend as they will play in the Liz Lykowski Memorial Tournament at Indiana Tech University in Fort Wayne, IN. Of the 4 matches, the Racers will face 3 nationally ranked opponents. The Racers will play #13 Olivet Nazarene at 3:00 pm on Friday, and finish with a 5:00 pm start against #31 Indiana Tech. On Saturday, the Racers will face St. Francis, the only unranked team of the weekend, at 9:00 am and finish with #6 Georgetown at 1:00 pm. |
