The University of Northwestern Ohio Racers Women's Tennis Team traveled to Hilton Head, SC for a Spring Break full of tennis. The Lady Racers competed in 5 matches during the week. UNOH won 2 of their last 3 matches to finish the week at 2-3. UNOH started the trip off against Colby College and only managed 2 wins during the match and fell 7-2. The Racers then lost a close battle with Sioux Falls as they fell 5-4. The Lady Racers then garnered their first victory as they downed Hartwick 7-2. UNOH would lose their match the next day as they fell to St. Thomas 7-2. The Lady Racers closed out their final match of the trip with a 6-3 victory over Principia. Leading the Lady Racers individually was Freshman Tara Carr as she finished 3-2 in doubles play and 4-1 in singles play, 7-3 overall. Sophomore Jamie Hilborn finished 2-3 in doubles play and 4-1 in singles play as well, and 6-4 overall. Freshman Ashlea Wills finished 2-3 in doubles play and 1-0 in singles play, to finish at 3-3 overall. Junior Ashley Carmack finished 3-2 in doubles play and 1-4 in singles play to finish 4-6 overall. Sophomore Erynn Piper finished 2-3 in doubles play and 2-3 in singles play to finish 4-6 overall. Sophomore Amy Shilling finished 2-3 in doubles play for the week. Sophomore Beth Gwin finished 1-3 in singles play for the week. Sophomore Carling Barrett finished 1-4 in singles play for the week. The Lady Racers are now 4-8 during the 2008-09 season. The Lady Racers will be back in action on Monday afternoon as they host Walsh University in their first American Mideast Conference match. The match will begin at 12:00 pm. |
