Brinkman and Finch Sign Letters of Intent To Play Women's Golf

Brinkman signs letter of intent

April 11, 2008

On Wednesday, April 9th, Head Coach Dan Reinicke, of the University of Northwestern Ohio women's golf team, announced the signing of Christy Brinkman and Melissa Finch, who will join his team in the fall of 2008.

Christy Brinkman, a native of the Lima area, signed her letter of intent to participate in the fall. Brinkman had participated in the Lima City Tournament the past five years. This past year was her best showing as she qualified into the championship flight, where she made it to the semi finals.

"Christy has a solid game and has been tournament tested," coach Reinicke said. "The Lima Women's City Tournament is a tournament where collegiate golfers have excelled. This past year she lost in the Lima Women's City tournament in the semi-finals, so she is aware of what expect of her."

The second letter of intent was signed by Melissa Finch. Finch is a high school Senior at Toledo Whitmer High School where she has completed her golf career. She was previously selected to 1st and 2nd team All-City in her junior and senior years. She has also been selected as a 3rd team All-District performer.

"Melissa participated in the NWOGGL which is probably the strongest girls' league in the state of Ohio," coach Reinicke said. "She has a solid game and should adapt to the longer collegiate courses with little problem."

After signing their letters of intent on Wednesday afternoon, both athletes will be on campus in the fall of 2008 as members of the University of Northwestern Ohio Women's Golf Team.
