March 26, 2009 The University of Northwestern Ohio women's golf team competed in their first tournament of the spring at Cumberland Trail in Pataskala, Ohio on Monday and Tuesday. Conference foe Walsh University claimed the tourney title with a two day total of 675. The Racers finished the two day Invitational with a team score of 744. The Racers were led by Junior Erin Winings, who finished in sixth place with a two round total of 177 (92, 85). Freshman Melissa Finch finished in tenth place with a two day total of 179 (90, 89). Freshman Christy Brinkman finished in 14th place with a 186 (90,96). Junior Vanessa Herbert (104, 99) and Sophomore Hollie Johnston (105, 98)tied for 26th place with a two day total of 203. Sophomore Brittany Neeley competed as an individual and finished with a two day total of 261 (135, 126). Nikki Kulasa of Walsh University took home medalist honors shooting a total score of 165. The Racers, return to action on Saturday, March 28th when they travel to Mount Union to take part in their Spring Invitational. The tournament will be played at the Tannenhauf Golf Course in Alliance, Ohio. |
