The UNOH Lady Racers signed Ashley and Hannah Rothney to play basketball for the 2009-10 season. Ashley comes to UNOH after playing two seasons for Lansing Community College and graduated from Morrice High School in 2007. Hannah comes to UNOH after being a four-year starter at point guard for Morrice High School. Ashley Rothney was a two-time all-conference selection in basketball and volleyball and one-time in softball. She was 1st team all-county her Senior season. Ashley was the Argus Press Athlete of the week, Argus Press All-Area her Junior and Senior seasons in basketball, and 2nd team in volleyball her Junior and Senior seasons. She was a two-time All-State Honorable Mention for Basketball, Volleyball, and Softball during her final two seasons. She was named to the 1st team of the Lansing State Journal Class D during her Senior season. Ashley ranks 1st all time at Morrice High School with 328 career blocks, 140 blocks in a season, and 12 blocks in a game. She is 4th all time in career rebounds with 679. Ashley finished her Morrice career with 756 points. Hannah Rothney was a two-time all-conference selection in basketball. She was a three-time all-county selection. She was named to the 1st team Lansing State Journal Class D two times, and the 2nd team during her Sophomore season. Hannah was named to the AP Class D All-State Honorable Mention for her efforts in her Senior season. She was a 4 year letterwinner at Morrice High School in basketball, volleyball, and softball. Hannah reach the 1,000 point plateau with 1,007 career points. She has several ranks in Morrice's histroy, including 2nd in 3-pointers with 106, third in free-throw percentage of 65.2, fifth in assists with 178, and seventh in steals with 219. Head Coach Rick Bowersock added,"We are excited to have Ashley and Hannah join the UNOH family. We feel both student-athletes will fit in perfectly with our "Team First" approach to a winning basketball program. This will also be the 1st set of sisters to play for the Racers which we think is another plus for our program." Ashley and Hannah have signed their letter of intents to play Women's Basketball for the University of Northwestern Ohio and will be on campus in the fall of 2009. Both sisters will be majoring in Business. |
