The Lady Racers traveled to Mt. Vernon Nazarene University on Tuesday evening in a future American Mideast Conference matchup. The Lady Racers started out strong versus the Cougars, only to be outmatched with experience as UNOH fell to MVNU by a final of 81-57. The Lady Racers quickly jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the first 4 minutes of the game, only to see that lead vanish with 11 minutes remaining in the first half as the Cougars tied the score at 15-15. From there it was all Cougars as they went on a 14-1 run in the next 5 minutes to put the Racers down 29-16. With the score 34-21, the Cougars put the final touches on the first half with an 8-0 run, and the half ended with the Cougars on top at 44-25. The Lady Racers wouldn't quit at the break, as they quickly came out in the second half and cut the lead down to 11. That would be the closest UNOH would get to the Cougars as poor shooting continued to hamper the Lady Racers chances of pulling even with the Cougars of Mt. Vernon Nazarene. The only double figure scorer for the Racers was Stacy Feathers for 13 points. Krissy Koester and Kristi Platfoot reached double figure rebounds with 11 and 10. Leading the way for the Cougars was Amanda Himes as she recorded a double double with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Rachel Fiely and Kelli Pollock totaled 17 and 13. The loss moves the Lady Racers to 2-4 on the season, while the Cougars move to 5-1. UNOH will be back in action on Tuesday, December 4th as they face Notre Dame College at Racer Gymnasium in Lima, OH. Tipoff for that contest is set at 5:30 PM. |
