Final Stats

The UNOH Lady Racers returned to action Saturday afternoon trying to capture their first home victory of the season. Poor shooting and costly turnovers cost the Lady Racers their upset bid of the American Mideast Conference favorite Shawnee State University. UNOH fell to Shawnee State by a final of 80-53.

After 10 minutes of play, the Racers and the Bears were all square at 10 a piece. The closest the Racers would be the rest of the afternoon was when the score was 22-18 in favor of the Bears at the 7 minute mark remaining in the first half. The Bears then proceeded to go on a run of 13-4 to end the first half and headed into the locker rooms with a lead of 35-22.

Things didn't change early in the second half as the Bears sprinted off a 10-0 run to start the half, adding up to an overall 23-4 run to put the game out of reach. The Lady Racers fought to get back into the ballgame, but could only scratch the lead down to 18 with 7 minutes to go. The Bears proceeded to put the game back out of reach by crisp play.

The Lady Racers shot 30% from the floor and committed 28 turnovers, a high for the season. Leading the way for the Lady Racers was Stacy Feathers with 10 points and 6 rebounds. Adding to her effort was Krissy Koester with 8 points and 7 rebounds.

Shawnee State's balanced attack led to 5 players in double figures. Jennifer Grandy and Mallery Albers each had 13 points. Karen Diehl performed with a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds. Kelly Wagner had 11 points, and Becky Babione had 11 points as well, along with 9 rebounds and 5 blocks.

The Lady Racers fall to 2-3 on the season, while Shawnee State moves to 3-1. The Racers will be back in action this Tuesday as they travel to Mount Vernon Nazarene University with tip time set at 5:30 PM.
