The UNOH Lady Racers traveled to Huntington University this weekend to take part in the Huntington University Vista Inn Tournament. In the consolation game, the Lady Racers downed Trinity Christian College 70-66 in OT. In a game filled with many shots, the Lady Racers found a way to overcome their 26% field goal percentage. Abbie Clifton led the charge as she tallied 21 points and 12 rebounds. Stacy Feathers came off the bench with a huge lift of 18 points and 10 rebounds. UNOH was 19-72 from the field, with a large portion of the misses coming from behind the arc as the Lady Racers were 5-33 from three. The Racers were solid in one area as they made 27-36 of their free throws to carry them to the victory. Trinity Christian controlled the first half as they pulled forward to a 10 point lead with 5:20 left in the half, only to struggle to half with a 2 point lead. UNOH came out in the second half and reached their largest lead of the game at the 7:44 mark in the second half. The Lady Racers also struggled the rest of the half as Trinity Christian's Amanda Learned made both free throws under a minute to push it to overtime. In overtime, the Lady Racers never let Trinity Christian take the lead as UNOH pulled out a close one 70-66. Leading the way for Trinity Christian was Amanda Learned who tallied 18 points and Brittany Kolenbrander who chipped in 11 points. The Lady Racers lost their first game of the tournament to Huntington University by a final of 75-52. UNOH was hampered the entire contest as they surrendered 27 turnovers in the game and only forced 13. Leading the way for the Lady Racers was Krissy Koester who totaled 11 points and 9 rebounds. In the first 8 minutes of the contest, Huntington sprinted out to a 19-3 lead and never looked back. UNOH cut the halftime lead to 7, and even had the lead down to 4 with 12 minutes left in the game, but after a short timeout by Huntington, the Foresters went on a 19-2 run the next 7 minutes to put the game out of reach. Huntington was led by Jenna Donaldson with 24 points and Courtney Beerbower totaled 23 points. The Lady Racers will be back in action this Tuesday, November 13th at Walsh University with gametime set at 7:00 PM. |
