The UNOH Lady Racers tipped off their 2009-10 campaign against Indiana Tech on Saturday afternoon on the campus of UNOH. The Lady Racers got an all-around team effort in defeating the Warriors 80-63. Saturday's matchup was the third overall meeting between the two schools. The record is now in favor of the Lady Racers with a 2-1 record. UNOH and Indiana Tech will quickly become rivals as UNOH joins the WHAC in 2010-11, where currently Indiana Tech belongs. The first half of action saw the Warriors and Lady Racers battling early, but UNOH used a crucial 8-0 run with 9:47 left in the half to push the lead to 9. The Warriors closed out the first half with a 7-0 run of their own to trail 35-31. In the second half, the Lady Racers used a 7-0 run to extend the lead to 15, five minutes into the half. Indiana Tech would cut the lead to single digits one time in the second half as UNOH led 57-50 with 8:13 left in the game. The Lady Racers outscored the Warriors 23-13 the rest of the way to finish with an 80-63 victory. Leading the way for the Lady Racers was Sophomore Amanda Francis with 24 points, 13 rebounds, and 8 steals. Nearing an almost identical statline was Sophomore Ashley Jackson with 15 points, 13 rebounds, 9 assists, and 7 steals. Junior Molly French reached double digits with 15 points as well. Junior Alexa Kennedy finished the double digit scoring with 12 points of her own. The Lady Racers are now 1-0 on the season, and will be back in action on Friday, November 13th against Grace. The Lady Racers will be playing in the Indiana University Southeast Tournament. They will then play on Saturday afternoon in either the consolation or championship game of the tournament. |
