CLIFTON SETS RECORDS IN LADY RACERS VICTORY

The Lady Racers stepped onto the court on Saturday afternoon playing their 4th game in nine days. The Lady Racers put forth their best shooting performance of the season and got career days from Abbie Clifton and Krissy Koester to defeat Midway College 87-70.

Saturday afternoon was the first of the two meetings this season between UNOH and Midway College. Midway started the series off on a strong note as they jumped out to a quick 8-3 lead. When the Lady Racers found themselves down 12-11, Krissy Koester scored 6 of the 8 points that UNOH conected on during their 8-0 run to take the lead.After taking their first lead and having a 19-12 lead, the Lady Racers would control the rest of the first half and head into the break with a 31-26 lead.

With a minute gone in the 2nd half, Midway College got within 2 points as the score was 33-31, in the next 3 minutes, the Lady Racers went on a 16-2 run to take a commanding lead at 49-33. The Lady Racers would use another 10-0 run later in the half to make the deficit to big for the Eagles of Midway to get within 10 points.

The Racers finished 32-62 from the field for the game for 52%. It was their best shooting performance of the year. There were also other records established on Saturday afternoon. 87 points was the highest point total scored in a game. Abbie Clifton scored 29 points to set the game high at UNOH. She also grabbed 16 rebounds, a new high for the Lady Racers. The team dished out 23 assists, also a new record at UNOH. Leading the cause was Erian Buckman, earning her first start at UNOH, she totaled 9 assists in the game, setting another record at UNOH.

Records didn't overshadow the complete total team effort displayed on Saturday. Krissy Koester also totaled 20 points and 8 rebounds. Alexa Kennedy and Erian Buckman helped in the effort with 9 points a piece.

The win moves the Lady Racers to 4-14 on the season. Midway falls to 12-5 on the season. The Lady Racers will be back in action this Wednesday, January 23rd when they travel to Notre Dame College. The game is set for 6:00 PM.
