It took until the 7th home game of the season for the Lady Racers to capture their first home win, but they did it in style by pulling away from Marygrove College by a final of 68-49. The first win at home also ended another drought, the Lady Racers had lost their previous 12 contests. The Lady Racers controlled the game from the tip and took an early lead. UNOH was ahead 16-10 with 11 minutes left in the first half when they started their first run of the game and extended the lead to 23-10 with 7 minutes remaining in the half. With the score 25-21 with 5 minutes left, the Lady Racers took off on another run to make the score 35-21 with 1:30 left to play in the first half. The Lady Racers went into the break with a 9 point lead of 35-26. In the second half, the Mustangs of Marygrove came out fighting, but would only cut the lead to 6 early in the 2nd. The Lady Racers used a 12-0 run over an 8 minute period to put away any hopes of a Mustang comeback. The Lady Racers would extend their largest lead of the game to 23 late in the 2nd half before the final reachd 68-49 in favor of UNOH. UNOH led the entire contest from the beginning of the game. The Lady Racers held Marygrove to 22% shooting from the floor for the game, including only 18% from three point land. UNOH shot only 39% for the game, but were 30% from behind the arc. Leading the way for the Lady Racers was Abbie Clifton as she totaled her 3rd double-double in her short career at UNOH. She scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Alexa Kennedy scored 9 points. Kristi Platfoot grabbed 8 boards to help in the rebounding category. The win moves the Lady Racers to 3-13 on the season. The Lady Racers will be back in action this Tuesday, January 15th when they host Georgetown College with tip set for 5:30 PM. |
