Kennedy leads Racers with 11 points

Jan. 2, 2008

Final Stats

The University of Northwestern Ohio Lady Racers faced the Walsh University Cavaliers for the second time this season on Wednesday evening in Racer Gymnasium. Poor first half shooting by the Lady Racers forced them into a deep hole that they couldn't overcome. UNOH fell to Walsh by a final of 89-70.

UNOH owned an early lead of 8-6 as Jenna Blackburn connected for 5 of the first 8 points. Unfortunately, that would be the only lead the Lady Racers would have for the rest of the evening. Walsh's Katie Berry found Racer Gymansium to be her playground as she poured in 20 first half points off of 9-10 shooting from the floor. The Racers went into half trailing 44-26.

The second half was a different game for the Lady Racers as they shot over 50% in the second half compared to 24% in the first. But it was all too late for the Lady Racers to make a run at the Cavaliers. The closest UNOH would come the second half was 16 as Stacy Feathers made the opening basket of the second half.

Alexa Kennedy was the only Racer to reach double figures as she scored 11 points. On a brighter side, every Lady Racer reached the scoring column in the contest. Jenna Blackburn and Stacy Feathers each scored 9 points. Erian Buckman also chipped in 8 points. Kelly Warris led the team in rebounds and assists with 5.

For Walsh, four players reached double figures as Katie Berry cooled off in the second half and ended up with 26 points. Brittani Maddox and Cara Bedard each scored 14 points. Leah Seaman totaled 12 to round out the double digit scoring.

The loss moves the Lady Racers to 2-10 on the season while Walsh improves to 7-6. In their previous meeting, UNOH defeated Walsh 70-64 at Walsh. UNOH will be back in action this Friday, January 4th at 6:00 PM when they travel to Campbellsville University in Campbellsville, Kentucky.
